Dripping in rose gold: Breitling SuperOcean Rose Gold U17320 review

Today we are going to be looking at this gorgeous specimen of a watch, a.k.a. the Breitling SuperOcean. Let’s get straight into it and see what this baby offers.

P.S. we also have a great video overview of this watch uploaded on our video page right here.

Packaging

This watch comes with the old-style packaging which consists of a large cardboard outer box, that houses the inner leather travel case (which you no longer get).

Hidden underneath the travel case, you can find the instruction manual, the chronometer certificate, the international warranty booklet, the electronic international warranty card, and finally an additional rubber strap.

Specification

Now onto the more technical side. This watch is a hefty automatic, coming in at a beefy 46mm in diameter, with a 24mm lug width and 13.6mm in thickness. Because this watch is quite large and chunky, it would work best for larger wrists or for people who quite like the oversized look when it comes to watches (like me).

Dial

This watch has a deep black dial which contrasts beautifully against the rose gold details and the rose gold bezel. There is also quite a lot of writing on the dial, however it doesn’t make the dial look messy or overcrowded.

The dial also features the signature Breitling “B” which, in this case, is rose gold and in my opinion it adds a really nice finishing touch. At the 6 o’clock position, there is a neatly placed quick change date window.

The watch also showcases rose gold hands and indices which really ties the whole look together. These indices do become hard to see in the dark, however Breitling have solved that issue for us as they have placed a lovely white minute track around the perimeter of the dial, with large lume dots at each hour position.

Bezel & casing

The star of the show is probably the unidirectional rose gold bezel. Surrounding the gorgeous rose gold, there are stainless steel teeth which provide an excellent grip on the bezel, as well as toning down the gold a little bit.

The case is made of highly polished stainless steel with smoothed off lugs giving a clean look. To tie the look together even more, the crown is also made of polished stainless steel but also features the same teeth as seen around the bezel, as well as the Breitling “B”.

Caseback

The case back is made of polished stainless steel and features information such as the water resistance of the watch, the reference code and of course the Breitling logo.

Bracelet

The watch sports a polished mesh style bracelet which in my opinion really suits the style of this watch an makes it look very expensive and intricate. The bracelet makes the watch extremely comfortable to wear as it is able to fully contort around the wrist. The secure deployant clasp also feature the Breitling logos.

...

In conclusion, this watch would make a stunning addition to any collection, but I am biased as I adore a bit of rose gold. Thanks for reading, I hope you have found this useful, have a great day!
